Creative Arts at Uni

There’s a huge variety of creative arts courses at universities and conservatoires.

Firstly, you might consider doing a foundation year, to consolidate your skills. Some high ranking universities will only accept you completing a foundation year.

Undergraduate degree courses are usually three years, however you might consider doing a four year courses which includes a year in industry or a year abroad.

Conservatoires are specialist higher education institutions, prestigious and highly regarded in the industry. They are very competitive and auditions are required to be offered a place. There are nine conservatoires within the UK:

Applying to UCAS & UCAS Conservatories

You apply for university via UCAS (University and College Admissions System), and the deadline for applications is usually January each year, for the following September entry. There is a fee of £26 per application.

Please note that UCAS Conservatoires require a separate application form with a deadline in October each year. Here too, there is a fee and applicants should be prepared to pay for additional audition fees.
